Pokemon With Ghosts? What Exactly is Yo-Kai Watch?

Yo-Kai Watch's sequel, Yo-Kai Watch 2: Gonzo & Honke, was released in 2014 as two respective editions. Recently, a third entry that takes place in the U.S. has been announced to be in development, while a four-player cooperative spin-off game called Yo-Kai Busters is scheduled to release on July 11 in Japan. But will Yo-Kai Watch be as popular in the U.S as it is in Japan? It’s difficult to say. Developer Level-5 has a solid track record with RPGs like Ni No Kuni and Dragon Quest IX, so the game’s quality isn’t so much in question. Rather, it’s more a matter of if the game will be able to capture the imaginations of children who might have trouble identifying with its world. This issue comes specifically from the way the game embraces the ambivalent attitude that the Japanese have towards the dead. One of the major reasons the Pokemon series has had so much international success in the West is because it does not favor the customs of one territory over the other. So this might prove to be a major hurdle for Yo-Kai Watch in its popularity in the West. Regardless, Western audiences will just have to see for themselves how Yo-Kai Watch does when it launches in the U.S. for the Nintendo 3DS sometime in 2016.

| Review: 'BoxBoy!' for Nintendo 3DS eShop - Examiner

HAL Laboratory, renowned for Super Smash Bros. Melee, is now one of Nintendos best kept secrets. The studio continually produces quality software for Nintendo hardware, and they have just crafted a wonder for the 3DS. Their latest release is BoxBoy and this game is quite deceiving. Making use of a basic artistic style and simple gameplay, BoxBoy doesnt appear to be anything too complicated on the surface. Then, suddenly, you find yourself stumped and unable to solve the puzzle presented to you. Where the game excels is how it makes you think outside of the box in order to come to a solution, and that makes it a 3DS eShop must-own.

DC:
Sometimes simplicity is the best route to take when designing a game. HAL Laboratory certainly took that statement into consideration when they developed their Nintendo 3DS puzzle game called BOXBOY!
The game is exactly what its named, a boy who happens to be a box traversing through a wacky set of mazes trying to obtain black crowns, while avoiding obstacles that might kill him along the way. The idea of using a box, or sometimes a set of boxes, to get through these mazes is the main source of gameplay. Boxboy creates a certain amount of patterned boxes from his noggin; sometimes they hook onto ledges, sometimes they snake through spaces, and sometimes they create stairs/platforms for him to get from point A to B. Simplicity is the name of the game with BOXBOY!, so catching onto how the gameplay is used is anything less than difficult.
